Complementary Rehabilitation Therapies

Eastern and Western Complementary Therapies

We offer several Easter and Western complementary therapies to complement 12-step drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The Breathing Space Thailand addiction rehabilitation program integrates holistic therapies to complement the bio-psychological process of recovery. Our complementary therapies have been designed to restore the body to its naturally healthy state and provide a clearer mental focus.

Yoga

There are numerous ways that Yoga can help to enhance the process of rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol during time in the Breathing Space Thailand program.

Enhanced physical health

Going through an addiction rehabilitation program and maintaining recovery can be challenging. Clients who are in better physical shape may have an advantage over those who are not. Yoga is fantastic exercise. Breathing Space Thailand provides daily Yoga classes that strengthen the physical condition.

Enhanced mental focus

Many clients attending residential treatment suffer from worry and distractions beyond the program, in the lives they left behind. Yoga offers our clients a focus on the immediate situation, avoiding any unnecessary worries or temptations.

Finding balance

Yoga is all about finding that perfect balance between the mind, body and spirit. Yoga is an excellent way of restoring and maintaining a perspective of calm and focus that presents our clients with a refreshing counter-balance to the chaos that life was, during active addiction.

Personal Training

Our personal trainer will assess you to create your individualized health and fitness program. The use of the gym and involvement in any other aspect of physical exercise should only ever complement the therapeutic work you are undertaking whilst at Breathing Space Thailand. It’s about finding a balance! Exercise should never become a way of avoiding your feelings. Therefore, your personal trainer will work with you to find a healthy approach to exercise.

Tai Chi (Chi Kung)

Chi Kung is included in the Breathing Space Thailand program because it is easy to learn and can very quickly provide benefits to people in early recovery from addiction.

40 million people practice Tai Chi in China alone (60-70 million worldwide). Chi Kung is a wonderful tool for bringing health, peace and vitality into one’s life. It consists of very simple and effective exercises and meditations.

People with addictions are more likely to be susceptible to stress and unhealthy living, this in turn leaves us feeling physically, mentally and emotionally unbalanced. Chi Kung, when practiced regularly, brings a state of peace and calmness to one’s mind and to one’s life, enabling the client to apply themselves to the therapeutic process.

Chi Kung works alongside any form of medication and therapy that you may be receiving. If you take any prescribed medication, it is strongly advised to continue until further advised by our qualified psychiatrist.
